This is a photo of Christian Haupt I took during the 2016 Ironman World Championships in Kailua Kona Hawaii. Christian Came in First place in his division which is an incredible accomplishment!(Ages 35-39) He completed the 2.4 mile swim in open ocean in 57mins and 39secs and ranked in at 52 in his division. Christian quickly jumped up in his division during the brutal 112 mile bike from kailua kona all the way to the Northern tip of the island in Hawi where he clocked in a 5hr 52min 14secs time and positioned himself in 8th place. On the last leg, a 26.2 mile run in the blazing heat through Kona town, Christian overcame the rest of his division and claiming 1st place in the mens 35-39 division! His overall time for the Ironman was 9hrs and 35 secs which is an overall 40th place. Congrats to Christian and can't wait to see him do even better next year!
I want to get into creative sports photography and this image is one of my favorites. The intensity of getting the shot while there flying by can be such a task, but knowing my gear and my own limitations I do the best I can. Portrait photography and Sports photography are two different worlds. Even the gear. This year I'm going to try to dedicate more time in sports photography. After I edited this photo I reached out to Christian to share this photo with him. I'm super pumped he liked it enough to get a large print. I'll share the photo of it if he sends me one. Hopefully I get more shots of him and his team this next ironman.
Quill and Feather / Product Photography
"Balielf leather shoes"
Product Photography. Well, there are limitless possibilities when it comes to product photography. I feel the basis is to represent the product in its natural element or as it would be used or intended to use. Making sure the style of photography for each specific product matches the branding style for which it will be used for. The key to product photography is exactly this, Product comes 1st and photography comes 2nd, A perfect product shot will entice someone to want that item, whatever it is, so it needs to properly display what it is and convey it’s message.
This shot was for Quill and Feather. Quill and Feather is a artisan gallery and boutique in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. The Quill and Feather jewelry collection is handmade in the shop.
